Located in Ames, Iowa the Ames Chamber of Commerce is a private, non-profit corporation made up of concerned business and professional people who volunteer their time and resources to make Ames a better place to live, work and do business. The mission of the Ames Chamber of Commerce is to provide our members services that strengthen the economic vitality in Ames and enhance the quality of life in our community.
Over 700 members benefit from exposure, networking and becoming a part of a unified voice on business issues. The Chamber provides programs that help area businesses grow, expand and locate in Ames.
SALUTE TO EDUCATORS
The 10th Annual Salute to Educators, presented by Greater Iowa Credit Union and WebFilings, LCC, is scheduled for Tuesday, August 17, 2010, at the Ames High School Cafeteria. The luncheon 
celebrates the value of our area educators from Ames, Gilbert and United Community Schools. You can show your support by sponsoring the event, providing in-kind donations or goodie bag materials.
Goodie bags will be given to 750 educators, 
administrators, and staff at Ames, Gilbert, United, Ballard, Ames Christian and St. Cecilia's schools. Chamber businesses can provide items to be included in the bags such as pens, pencils, notepads, rulers, markers, tape, post-it notes, etc.
If you would like to place a flier or brochure in the goodie bags, please consider becoming an event sponsor! Details about the event and sponsorship can be found online here. Items must be delivered to the Chamber no later than Friday, July 30. Please contact Megan or Crystal and let us know what you plan to contribute to the Salute goodie bags!

CNNMoney.com and Yahoo! Real Estate have reported today that Ames, Iowa is number nine on the list of the Top 100 Best Places to Live in America. The annual list is compiled by investigating an optimal combination of job opportunities/unemployment rate, excellent school systems, health care, amenities/activities, economic strength and other elements that make a town perfect for raising a family. The only other two Iowa communities to make the list are Iowa City (#68) and West Des Moines (#75).
