

GUIDELINES
THEME: THRIVING in Ames
SUBMISSION PERIOD: October 4, 2010 – November 19, 2010
COMPETITION: All submissions will be judged in a blind jury process. All entries selected by the jury will be included, in digital format, in a book published and distributed by the Ames Chamber of Commerce.
Any art depicting an item or phrase that has been previously copyrighted or trademarked will not be accepted. This includes, but is not limited to, Iowa State University trademarks and any image from Reiman Gardens.
The selected Best of Show entry(ies) will be awarded a Commission Award of $1000 and ownership will be transferred to the Ames Chamber of Commerce when the work(s) will be reproduced for sale and distribution. The winning artist will also receive the Printer’s Proof, recognition in local media, and display opportunities in the Ames community. He/she will also agree to number and sign limited edition reproductions of his/her work which will be sold by the Ames Chamber of Commerce.
MEDIUMS ACCEPTED:
*may be submitted for jury selection and inclusion in The Art of Community book; however 3 dimensional pieces cannot be considered for best of show entries which will be reproduced for sale and distribution, and therefore will not be eligible for the $1000 Commission Award.
ELIGIBILITY:
For work to be considered for the Art of Community, it must meet the following requirements:
SUBMISSION & PRESENTATION: All submissions must be entered by a member organization of the Ames Chamber of Commerce and be accompanied by appropriate entry form and fees. Each piece must also have an identification label (see specifications below) that includes title of artwork, artist’s name, sponsoring Chamber member organization, and Ames Chamber member contact name.
Submission period: All artwork to be considered for The Art of Community must be delivered to the Ames Chamber of Commerce during normal business hours from Monday, October 4 to Friday, November 19, 2010, to 1601 Golden Aspen Drive, Suite 110; Ames, IA 50010. If individual pieces are not dropped off in person, the Ames Chamber of Commerce is not responsible for any damage caused during delivery.
Submission guidelines:
INSURANCE: Once submitted to the Ames Chamber of Commerce, each entry will be covered for 60% of the insurance value in the unlikely event of damage or theft. The artist is responsible for any coverage beyond that amount.
RECLAIMING ENTRIES: All exhibits may be picked up by the artist or artist sponsor at the conclusion of all Ames Chamber Art of Community showings in spring 2011. Specific information on reclaiming works will be sent directly to the artists and sponsors in December 2010.
