The Ames Community Sustainability Task Force is charged with assisting the Ames City Council in developing a plan to achieve cost-effective energy reductions in the various sectors of our community through the focus on electrical energy consumption (and associated carbon emissions). It is anticipated that the work of this task force will begin in early October and be completed within a year. The full task force charge is linked here.

 

 

 

 

 The City of Ames is still searching for specific sector representation, especially in the sectors listed here: 

For purposes of this committee, sectors are designated as the following: 
• Business – 3 representatives needed
• Building Contractors/Developers – 2 representatives needed
 • Religious Organizations – 2 representatives needed
• Civic Organizations – 2 representatives needed
• School District Administration  – 2 representatives needed 

There are multiple ways to take part in the Ames Community Sustainability Task Force:

  1. Task Force Sector Representative
    1. Attends bimonthly Task Force meetings – 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month, 7-8:30pm.
    2. Attends additional working or informational meetings as determined by the Task Force facilitator and membership
    3. Chairs a subcommittee of sector representatives - Identifies a subcommittee of sector representatives and facilitates (minimum) one monthly meeting of the subcommittee
    4. Assumes active role in fulfilling the sector-specific action items of the Task Force charge
  2. Sector Subcommittee Representative
    1. Attends (minimum) monthly meetings of the Sector Subcommittee
    2. Attends additional working or information meetings as determined by the Sector Subcommittee Chair and membership
    3. Assumes active role in assisting the Sector Subcommittee Chair to fulfill the sector-specific action items of the Task Force charge
  3. Sector Consultants
    1. Assists in an “as needed” capacity to provide expertise and assistance to Sector Subcommittee in fulfilling the sector-specific action items of the Task Force charge
