Youth Leadership Ames (YLA) THE APPLICATION DEADLINE HAS PASSED AND APPLICATIONS ARE BEING REVIEWED. THE INAUGURAL YOUTH LEADERSHIP AMES CLASS WILL BE ANNOUNCED LATER THIS SUMMER. The Ames Chamber Education Connections Committee and Young Professionals of Ames are pleased to announce the launch of our new program, Youth Leadership Ames, set to begin in the fall of 2010. Following in the footsteps of the Chamber’s successful Leadership Ames program, already in its 23rd year, the Youth Leadership Ames program is designed to develop the community leadership potential of area high school students in the Chamber member school districts. Youth Leadership Ames seeks to provide area high school youth with a unique opportunity to interact with community leaders and institutions, explore educational and career options, and broaden their perspective on community issues. Program participants will also complete a community service project. Gilbert and Ames High School sophomores are invited to complete an application to be eligible for participation during their junior year of high school (2010-2011 school year). Students can download the application at the right of this screen. Tuition for the Youth Leadership Ames program will be free to the participating high school juniors. Programs costs will be covered by business sponsorships solicited by the Ames Chamber of Commerce and Young Professionals of Ames.
