Youth Leadership Ames

Youth Leadership Ames (YLA)

Facilitated and funded by the Ames Chamber of Commerce and the Young Professionals of Ames (YPA)

Applications for current Chamber member high school sophomores to apply for the 2011-2012 class (held during their junior year) are now available at Chamber member high schools or RIGHT HERE. Applicants chosen for the 2011-2012 class will be selected at the end of May 2011 and announced June 2011.

Following in the footsteps of the Chamber’s successful Leadership Ames program, already in its 24th year, the Youth Leadership Ames program is designed to develop the community leadership potential of area high school students in the Chamber member school districts.

Youth Leadership Ames seeks to provide area high school youth with a unique opportunity to interact with community leaders and institutions, explore educational and career options, and broaden their perspective on community issues. Program participants will also complete a community service project.

February, Financial Management
March, Business & Industry
April, Secondary Education
May (evening), Graduation
 

Tuition for the Youth Leadership Ames program will be free to the participating high school juniors. Program funding and sponsorship provided by Boehringer Ingelheim, and facilitated and funded by the Ames Chamber of Commerce and Young Professionals of Ames.
