OMAHA, Neb. (May 11, 2021)—The Salvation Army of Ames & Story County today announced that it will host its first-ever golf-tournament fundraiser in July.
Called the Red Kettle Classic Golf Tournament, the event will be held on Monday, July 12—with registration to begin at 9:30 a.m. and a shotgun start to follow at 11 a.m. The venue will be the Ames Golf & Country Club (5752 George Washington Carver Ave. in Ames).
Proceeds from the Red Kettle Classic will be used to support Story County families in need of assistance—via everything from food to homelessness prevention to emergency disaster services.
“We couldn’t be more excited to start up a new tradition here in town,” said Cari McPartland of The Salvation Army of Ames & Story County. “This tournament gives people a chance to have fun and learn more about what we do for the community—all while directly supporting our efforts.”
Attendees will be required to adhere to all Story County pandemic-safety precautions in place at the time of the event.
All are welcome to sign up to play. Individual registrations are $100 apiece; corporate sponsorships are also available. To sign up to play—or to sign up to be a sponsor—please go to
