Ames, IA – The Ames Chamber of Commerce is excited to host Dr. Simon Estes as the featured speaker at the final event of the 2018 Ames Chamber of Commerce Leadership Series. The program will be held at the ISU Alumni Center in Ames on Thursday, October 11, 2018.

“This year’s Capstone Event is one I am extremely eager for,” said Sarah Buss, Director of Events and Sponsorship for the Ames Chamber of Commerce. “Many of us have heard Simon Estes’s beautiful voice, but we don’t know all the background behind it. If you think his music moves you, then just wait until you hear his story!”

In addition to being a world-renowned opera singer, Estes also found a way to give back. By creating the Simon Estes Foundation, he was able to start numerous scholarship organizations across the world and partner with the United Nations Foundation to help eliminate malaria in Africa. This year’s Capstone will feature Estes’s inspirational story and also include a performance.

The Capstone Event is the final program to the 2018 Leadership Series – a collection of four events held throughout the year to inspire, motivate and empower community members.

The Simon Estes Capstone Event will be on Thursday, October 11 from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. at the ISU Alumni Center (429 Alumni Lane, Ames). Tickets are $35 for Chamber Members and $45 for the General Public. Employees of members qualify for the member discount. Members are asked to log in to their Member Portal on www.AmesChamber.com to register.

Ames, IA – The Ames Main Street Farmers’ Market is excited to host the first annual Farm to Table dinner Presented by VisionBank on Sunday, August 12. The event will be held on the 500 block of Main Street from 5:30 – 9:00 p.m. with dinner provided by market vendors, prepared by staff from Aunt Maude’s.

“This event was created to highlight our local market vendors while giving our guests a special gourmet meal,” said Lojean Peterson, Ames Main Street Farmers’ Market Manager. “Attendees will be given a unique experience to dine on local food while enjoying the outdoor atmosphere of Downtown Ames!”

Through this event the market hopes to raise funding to enhance the market experience for all visitors. Farm to Table will serve as a fundraiser for the Ames Main Street Farmers’ Market. Money raised will go towards the promotion of over 70 vendors and assist in providing free music, programming and classes to 2,500 – 3,200 weekly market attendees.
